Lentz, Kevin John, 58, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2016 in House Springs, Missouri. He was born on January 17, 1958 to “Coach” Frank Lentz and Glenda Futch Lentz. Kevin graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1976 where he excelled in basketball three years for the Chiefs. He was the leading scorer in Hillsborough county in 1975 & 76, and was Western Conference MVP those two years as well. He won many awards for his athletic achievements, as well as being a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation he attended Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida for two years on a basketball scholarship. His final years of college he attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri with his brother, Keith where he graduated with a B.S. in accounting. Kevin was a salesman most of his life and excelled at it, winning many awards and recognition in the insurance industry. He was the consummate ladies man, with handsome good looks, gentlemanly manners and a sharply dressed presence. He had no children but loved his two nephews and those of his friends. He was an avid and skilled crappie (Speckled Perch) fisherman and hunter. Kevin loved to give people nicknames and made everyone feel good when he was around. He was one of a kind and we are so saddened by his sudden passing. Kevin was pre-deceased by his mother in November of 2012. He is survived by his father, older brother, Glenn C. Lentz, twin brother, Keith “Bucky” Lentz (Allison) and nephews, Alexander and Justin Lentz. A visitation will take place at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa, FL on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, with a remembrance at 6:00 pm. Immediately following the service we will celebrate his life at Carrollwood Village Country Club in Tampa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in Kevin’s name to: Florida College, Adopt Program, 119 N. Glen Arven, Temple Terrace, FL. 33617.
