Kevin Margetts Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 24, 2025.
Knoxville - Kevin Jennings Margetts age 59, "Bunny" passed away suddenly on the evening of 5/21/25 surrounded by loved ones.

Kevin was an avid sportsman, outdoorsman and a gentleman farmer. In his spare time he could be found camping, fishing, hiking or just sitting in a quiet place and enjoying nature. He was an excellent photographer and was able to capture nature in all her infinite glory. Most free weekends, he was hunting for a record buck, convincing wild turkeys that he was lonely, or luring a behemoth, channel catfish from the depths of Ft Loudon Lake. He was able to boat some near records (he called them "kitten fish").

A graduate from Doyle High School, he was always a gifted, first string athlete in every sport that he played. Mischievous, he possessed a quick wit and an easy laugh.

He was graced with the nickname of "Bunny" his entire life. The name was a reference to a set of fleece pajamas that had bunny feet and a fluffy-ball tail (He wore them for days). Hearing his football teammates cheer for "Bunny" as he regularly made open-field tackles always confused the opposing team as his veracity, athleticism and talent did not match the "Bunny" moniker.

He leaves behind his Father Mark Jennings Margetts and his lovely daughters Marilyn Jennings Wilburn (Jordan) and Ella Marie Margetts, he also leaves his brothers Steve André and Brian Margetts and their families of in-laws, out-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother Judith Davis Margetts. He also leaves "Max" the cat. More than anything else, he leaves a hole in all of our hearts as he was a gentle man who was loved by anyone that knew him and that he loved his family without measure.

In lieu of a formal service, Kevin requested that a private service is appropriate and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Kevin was like a brother to me. Holiday gatherings were always a joy when he and Ella were there. I've known him since we were both teenagers. The world has lost a bright star, but Heaven has gained that Star. My prayers are with his family and friends left behind. May God be with you all.

To all Kevin's family and friends... I am so sorry we've lost such a wonderful man. It's still so hard for my brain to grasp the fact that Jesus called him home.

I pray that Jesus sees everyone through this difficult time.

I will never, NEVER forget this quick witted, funny, laid back person who came into my life when I was at my worst, and he still saw good in me.

I'm so grateful he got to see me at my best, also.. And I will deeply miss sharing our deep love of orange cats, we shared memes, cat videos, jokes for days at a time! He always knew exactly what would make me laugh. He was like that with everyone.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who DIDN'T like or love Kevin!!

May Jesus welcome Kevin with open arms and Heaven rejoice!

My deepest condolences to Marilyn, Ella, Mark and Kevin's brothers...and all his family and friends.

I'll see you in Heaven. I hope all your Maxs are waiting for you there!

Kevin will definitely be missed by the Valley Wholesale team. He always had a smile on his face, and almost always started off with his brand of wise-crack humor. The kind that made you smile no matter what. It was always a better day when Kevin stopped by. Words can´t describe how much he will be missed.
Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Fly high Kevin!
Till we meet again one day,

Jeremy

Awwww, Bunny! I can´t believe itHe was my first guy friend at Mount Olive Elementary when I transferred there in the 4th grade (Mrs. Sullivan was the best!). One snowy Christmas morning not too long ago when I couldn´t get down my treacherous hill, he and Ella brought me bread and milk
