I am so sad to hear about Kevin. He was very special to me. I remember when he first appeared in my grade 10 class, weighed down by pounds of heavy metal chains, a slight young man almost hidden under all that armour. And inside was sweet, kind, gentle Kevin, who was just trying to survive in an often intimidating high school. I always wished I could do more for Kevin, but didn't know how.
He came to visit a few times after he graduated, and it was always such a treat to see him, to chat and get caught up.
My heart goes out to his family for this unbearable loss.

I will always remember Kevin as a fun loving, kind hearted man. Growing up playing on the same soccer team as his older brother Allan, I had known Kevin since he was just a boy. He is one of the few people who made an impression on me and we had kept in touch for many years despite living in different cities. My deepest regret and sympathy to his loving parents. Kevin, may you find peace.

Jo-Anne and I would like to thank everyone for the kind thoughts posted here and all of the many good friends who have so generously offered their condolences, support and assistance.
No words can mitigate the pain and sorrow of losing our son, however the love and suppport for Kevin and ourselves expressed here and in the many cards, calls and emails we have received will help us through this difficult time.
We would also like to express our appreciation to all who have made donations to Covenant House in the hopes that it may help some other child in need of and ready to accept assistance.
Thank you once again.

Kevin, I don't really know how to describe my feelings about your passing on. All I have been able to think about this past week was the sweet 10 year old kid that I took to the comic book store to get Spiderman cards. I guess thats the way I am always going to remember you. You were a good person and even though I didn't see you that often I am really going to miss you.

Kevin was a culinary student of mine and over the years would occasionally drop by to say hello. His quiet shy smile always there...
Always respectful, optimistic and wanting to learn he will always be remembered as one of my favorite students.

Dear Spear Family:
I had the privilege of knowing Kevin as a teenager. I worked with him as a student throughout his high school years in Tsawwassen. Kevin was a gentle soul with a charming smile. He was always patient and appreciative. Even though many years have passed, Kevin is a student I remember fondly. I am so sorry for your loss. As an educator, young people like Kevin touch our hearts and it brings great sadness to lose someone so young.

Oh my sweet Kev. I am struggling to accept that you truly are no longer with us. If heaven needed an angel, they took the best.
I used to walk to school with Kevin every morning in highschool. Never seen without the earbuds from his walkman dangling around his neck; I'll best remember him as a gentle, kind- natured friend. He had the most bashful smile and his laugh...it was so endearing.
I send my deepest sympathy and support for the strength to hold on, to a family who has suffered a heart-wrenching tragedy. My heart breaks for your loss.

I can't tell you how much it means to our family to read such kind and warm words regarding Kevin. It is so nice to see how he touched the lives of people around him. He was a wonderful "Uncle Kevin" to my children and he will always be my little brother with a gentle soul. I miss him dearly.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We've known Kevin for years and years and we had the privledge of having him work at The Rose and Crown for some time. You know, I will never ever forget him. He always made me laugh, as everytime he worked alone, he would put on his Tom Jones C.D's. (But he would never put them on when he was working with somebody) haha I loved him for that! My heart goes out to his family, and I'm just so sorry as he was such a sweet, sweet guy. Even after he didn't work for us anymore, he always had kind words to say to me...and always a big smile. I'll miss him very much.

I worked with Kevin at the Pub. He had a beautiful soul, always providing a smile when things were going crazy. What a great guy! My heart is heavy with sadness upon hearing this horrible news.
My thoughts go out to his parents. Kevin always knew you were there for him.
