Kim Liljefors Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Nov. 29, 2008.

LILJEFORS Kim AndersOur determined, smart, kind and generous husband, father and grandfather, Kim Anders Liljefors, left us far too early on November 22, 2008 at the age of 63, after a tough courageous battle with cancer. He leaves, both to grieve and celebrate his very special life, Yvonne, his wife and best friend of 42 years, and their children, Mark and wife Nami, Sarah and partner Jean Philippe, and Brett, all of Vancouver. His dearly loved grandchild, Lala, will miss her "RahRah". Survived by his sister, Catherine Whittle, and predeceased by his parents, Bengt and Margareta, and his sister, Kristina Liljefors, all of Ottawa. Born in Sweden on September 17, 1945, Kim emigrated with his family to Quebec as a teenager. He graduated from McGill University in civil engineering in 1968 and worked as a professional engineer in Toronto before moving to Vancouver and founding a computer software company, CanMap, which brought him much happiness and many friendships. He greatly enjoyed our family sailing trips and our road adventures throughout Canada and the States. He will be lovingly remembered for his gentle nature, his wry sense of humour and steadfast approach to all life handed him. Sincere thanks to Dr. S. Smiljanic, Dr. D. Haaf and the staff at Lions Gate Hospital. In lieu of a service, we will have a family gathering on a sailboat.
