Kimberly Hébert Gregory Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 6 to Oct. 7, 2025.
Kimberly Hébert Gregory, a commanding and versatile actress best known as Dr. Belinda Brown on HBO's "Vice Principals," died October 3, 2025. She was 52. Her death was shared publicly by her former husband, actor-singer Chester Gregory, in a tribute on social media. A cause of death was not disclosed.

Born December 7, 1972, in Houston, Hébert Gregory trained first in theater and later moved into film and television. She graduated from Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, earned a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, and completed a master's degree in social work at the University of Chicago.

After early screen appearances in 2007, including "I Think I Love My Wife" and the "Gossip Girl" pilot, she built a steady television résumé. Credits included "Law & Order," "Grey's Anatomy," "Two and a Half Men," "The Big Bang Theory," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Better Call Saul," and "The Chi." She co-starred in ABC's "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World" and portrayed Ruth Jean Baskerville Bowen in "Genius: Aretha." Film work included "Five Feet Apart."

Her breakout role came in "Vice Principals." As Dr. Belinda Brown, she matched wits with the scheming vice principals played by Danny McBride and Walton Goggins. "Vice Principals" co-star Busy Phillips remembered her as "a light and a force," while Goggins said, "She made me laugh like no other. A professionals professional."

Hébert Gregory also contributed voice work to animation, notably as Nicole Williams on the popular series "Craig of the Creek." She continued to balance screen roles with a deep grounding in theater, a path that began in Chicago and earned early recognition.
