Kirk Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2018.
Robert (Kirk) Johnson, SR passed away peacefully on August 25, 2018. He was born on August 2, 1946, to Clair Lewis and Elizabeth Ruth Johnson, and earned multiple degrees from Michigan State University. Kirk was a master craftsman and woodworker with his love and passion for artistry clearly reflected in the pieces he created, many of which have found homes in his favorite places throughout the community.

Kirk is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Sarah Johnson, his son Robert Kirk Johnson, JR of Rockville, MD, grandsons Mitchell Lewis Johnson of Boston, MA, Andrew Eaton Johnson of Salisbury, MD, his sisters Nancy Chlebus of Sturgis, MI, Elizabeth Kay Safirstein of IN, brothers-in-law Tom, Stuart, Robert, and sister-in-law Laura, nephews and nieces: Scott, Dan, Sharon, Thomas, Amy, Rebecca, Emily, Carla, and many beloved friends.

Sarah regularly commented that Kirk never stopped treating her like a girlfriend, always remaining romantic and chivalrous. The world is a lesser place without this man. The memory of his silent strength, love, caring, humor, and art lives on through everyone he touched.

A celebration of Kirk's life will be held on September 30, 2018, from 2-4:00 p.m. at The Peanut Barrel located at 521 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI 48823.
