Kirk Workman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 27, 2022.
Kirk E. Workman passed away in the early morning hours of June 21, 2022 after a 2 year battle with osteosarcoma. Family and friends are deeply grieving the loss of their one-of-a-kind son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Kirk was born in Springfield, IL on July 7, 1961. He would spend many of his younger years in California, where he attended Hueneme High School, before eventually returning to Illinois and attending Glenwood High School. He would later go back to California before settling permanently in Illinois. Kirk was a jack of all trades and there was nothing he couldn't fix, build, or make beautiful. He enjoyed watching movies, making people laugh, and a good bon-fire. Those who were lucky enough to know him would describe him as smart, hard-working, sensitive, fun-loving, stubborn, charismatic, a deep thinker, creative, a little ornery and, above all else, willing to do anything for the people he loved.

Kirk loved his family more than anything and was loved deeply, in return.

"I know the road you walked was anything but easy.

You picked up your share of scars along the way.

Oh, but now you're standing in the sun, you've fought your fight and your race is run.

The pain is all a million miles away"

A Celebration of Life, open to all who knew and loved him, will be held at a later date with details to come.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kirk's name can be made to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html) or the Osteosarcoma Institute (https://osinst.org/donate/).

God shared His handiwork with us when He gave us Kirk...a beautiful man with a beautiful soul. Kirk filled a unique spot in the ranks of our clan. A loved son of a loved son. With us we are all brothers and sisters...often more sibling than cousin...though far apart we are forever together in soul and spirit. Ours is never goodbye but see you later.

You were a one of a kind original, Kirk. Your passing leaves a void in our lives, unable to be filled. But the love in our hearts and memories remain for all time. Til we meet up again in Heaven, Cuz... I love you
