Kolleen Grattan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 16, 2007.
GRATTAN, Kolleen Dale Farewell dear family, friends and colleagues. My four year battle with cancer ended on January 31. Please know that I am at peace and no longer in pain. I was proud to be the daughter of Ken "The General" Grant of Ottawa and Hazel Kelly of Kelowna, B.C. and sister of Kristopher Grattan of Toronto. Many people helped me through this challenge and I would like to especially thank Dr. Roanne Segal and Dr. Kayvan Amjadi of the Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Margaret Farncombe and nurse Max Hamlyn of the Palliative Care Outreach Program, the kind nurses at Bayshore Home Health, especially Annie Raymond and the staff of Sunburst Oxygen Spa. They, along with many family and friends, made the final chapter of my life an adventure filled with laughter and love. My wish for each of you is that at the end of your life you are surrounded with as much love as was I. A formal farewell will be held at a Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 194 Fourth Avenue, Monday, February 19, 11 am, immediately followed by an upbeat celebration of my life. In lieu of flowers and tears, I would appreciate you supporting the amazing and under funded work of the Palliative Care Outreach Program ( www.palliativeoutreach.org ) so that others may also have peace at the end of their own life's journey. Condolences at www.kellyfh.ca

Dear Ken and family,

I was very fortunate to have known your daughter. I went to college with her. Her bubbly personality and smile always brightened my day! Unfortunately we didn't keep in touch. I've been in Beeton (small town north of Toronto) for the past 19 years. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Dear Ken and family,

Our deepest sympathy on the death of your dear Kolleen. We also know the heartache of losing a child. Our son Michael who worked with you at CFRA during the 80's was killed by a drunk driver (two years ago). Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
