Kumie Talbot Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 16 to Oct. 18, 2006.
TALBOT _ Kumie (Norma) 1941 - 2006 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kumie (Norma) Talbot (nee Nakahama) at the age of 65 years on October 13, 2006, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred; sons, Russ, Brian (Kim); daughter Lisa; and grandson Colton. She is also survived by her brothers, Don (Cecelia), Harry (Cy), Steve; and sister Pauline (Heinz). She will be sorely missed by many other family and friends. Norma was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and moved to southern Alberta after the Second World War. After completing high school she moved to Calgary where she met her husband, Fred. Norma was always the core in keeping family and friends in a close circle. Norma was a talented and successful seamstress and an avid gardener. She sewed for her many friends and others throughout the Calgary area. Her garden and flower beds were nurtured with love and she had a story for every plant. She was also a devoted golfer. She and Fred were members of the Highwood Golf and Country Club for over twenty-nine years. The Highwood has been their home away from home, and the members have always been part of their extended family. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. "We love you, Mom." "I love you, honey." Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis and Holloway Funeral Homes, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2006. In lieu of flowers, please donate in the name of Kumie (Norma) Talbot to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Center, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2N 4N2.

Fred and family,

It is with great sadness that I post this message. Just two weeks ago I was going to stop by to say hi to Norma as I was driving by. This is an unfortunate reminder of why you should not postpone things you want to do. Although I didn't get to see Norma that day, I will always have great memories. We will stop by for a visit soon Fred. Take care and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family everyday.

Our hearts ache with you in the passing of your wife, mom and grandma. She was a dear, precious lady loved by many. 'Mrs. Talbot' will always be a part of my childhood memories, our engagement & wedding memories and the many family shared event memories over the years. Our hearts, our prayers and our thoughts are with you all during this very difficult time.

God Bless you,

Norma and I only crossed paths for a short time, but I still felt a sadness to read of her passing. She was Norma Nakahama then. While a Secretary in our office she was quiet, dependable, and most of all, always quick with a smile. She was a delight and I offer my condolences to her family.
