Reames, L. Joan Kalamazoo, Michigan Lillian Joan Reames, age 92 of Kalamazoo, died on June 27, 2021 at Hastings Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born along with her twin sister Marian Jean on October 10, 1928, in Kendall, Michigan, the daughter of Allan and Beatrice (Harris) Adams. Joan grew up in the Oshtemo area and was a 1947 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. On July 2, 1949, Joan married Richard "Dick" Reames, who preceded her in death on July 22, 1999. She was a 68-year member of the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo. Her and Dick enjoyed their antique cars and were members of the Kalamazoo Antique Auto Restorers Club and the Lower Michigan Region Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. They toured to many places in their cars. Joan enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds. Some of the best memories as a family were made at their cottage near Stony Lake. Her family includes her daughters: Linda Jean Reames of Hastings and Jacqueline Kay Puia of Massillon, Ohio; her sister Beatrice Penning of Portage, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Reames, her son Mark Edward Reames in 1963, her brothers Donald Adams and Keith Adams, her sister Wilma Hope and her twin sister Marian Jean James. Friends may visit with her family on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 11 AM-12 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where her funeral service will follow at 12 PM, with Reverend Cal Mastin officiating. Interment will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan may be made to the Hastings Rehabilitations and Healthcare Center, Elara Caring Hospice, or the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo.
