Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, in Watson Cemetery, with the Rev. Forrest Mixon officiating. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Mr. Sawyer was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Marion County, a son of the late Hoyt E. and Lillie Martin Sawyer. He was a retired farmer and businessman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II, and was the longest living member of Mullins American Legion Post No. 89. Mr. Sawyer was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Sawyer in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Buddy Sawyer and his wife, Sherie, of Mullins; three daughters, Doris S. Hardy of Mullins, Susan S. Smith and her husband, Chip, of Mullins and Donna S. Floyd and her husband, Mark, of Fairmont, N.C.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Zack Sawyer of Nichols and Jimmy Sawyer of Marion; and two sisters, Ann Owens of Rains and Judy Jones of Mullins.
Mr. Sawyer was predeceased by a sister, Agnes Ammons; and two brothers, Carl Sawyer and Edward Sawyer.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
