Larry Krout Obituary

LARRY DEAN KROUT
December 28, 1961 ~ October 28, 2013

Larry Dean Krout passed away Oct. 28, 2013. He was born Dec. 28, 1961 in Alamosa, CO as the first child to parents Denny and Sally Krout. He was raised with both sets of grandparents close by, who, along with his parents, taught him the importance of hard work, being a good neighbor, and basketball. Although he excelled in many sports, basketball was his favorite.
Larry served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Virginia. He loved this time of service, and loved the people there. In the fall of 1983, while attending Ricks College, he was introduced to Keri Bingham. Although basketball wasn't her favorite sport, and she wasn't 6'0 like he imagined his wife would be, he married her anyway in the LDS Seattle, WA Temple for Time and All Eternity on June 7, 1985. They spent over 28 years watching thousands of games together. They were blessed with seven children who were the joy of his life; Brandon, Jocelyn, Sterling, Jamyn, Rylie, Reghan, and Elyse.
Larry's legacy is that of service. He taught his children by example to look for the many ways we can help others.
He instinctively found those in need. He had an infectious smile that would light up his face, and the innate ability to make all around him feel special.
Larry was part owner of ProActive Physical Therapy and enjoyed helping people heal.
He learned to boat, so that his family could make lasting memories together on Lakes Shasta and Merwin. These memories while boating will stay with us who miss him. He will always be our favorite Captain.
Larry leaves behind his wife; children; grandchild, Fletcher; parents; sisters, Tami and Jana; and brother, David.
A funeral service will be held this Sat., Nov. 2, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel, 9729 NE 50th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98665.
An education and funeral fund has been set up at Columbia Credit Union, in care of: Keri Krout.

My condolences go out to the Krout family in this time of profound lose. I had the privilege of playing high school basketball with Larry as he was the point guard on our team. Larry never had a bad thing to say about anyone, was always a gentleman, and my most fond high school memories and successes included Larry. He will be in my thoughts and prayers for the rest of my days. Love ya, Larry.

We are stunned to learn about Larry and so very sad and sorry. So many memories of teasing and laughing with the family when younger. He adored his own family I can only imagine what kind of husband and father he was and will again be in the eternities. Such a wonderful man, came from great people and we are so thankful that he had the time he had. Until we all meet again, blessings to you Larry and your lovely family. Our most sincere condolences.

My first memory of Larry is meeting out in the foyer at church--each with our daughters. He was pushing Elyse in an umbrella stroller, roaming the halls and I thought to myself "why not?!?" And soon followed suit. :)
He always had the nicest smile on his face and took great pride in his family and their many talents.
The world has lost an amazing man, and I'm sad for those people who didn't have a chance to meet him.
You are missed already, Larry, and will continue to be.
Prayers and love and condolences to all of the Krout family.

Never, ever did I see Larry at church meetings or events or even sports activities where he did not greet others warmly and so friendly. A true disciple of Christ is evidenced in the way they treat others. The world needs many more men and true disciples like Larry Krout. He is still here, loving you and concerned about you, just hidden from view. You are in my prayers and those of so many others.

Keri and Family, Our thoughts are with you. We all will miss Larry and what he has done for so many kids. It was great fun working with the kids on the hardwood. Times we will never forget. So sorry,
