Larry Lundgren Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 14, 2023.
Larry Raaen Lundgren, 69, of Acworth, GA, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023. Born on May 20, 1954 in Bend, Oregon, Larry was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched through both his work and his music.

Born and raised in Central Oregon, Larry moved to Georgia in 1989 to work as an RN on the Baylor plan. His first love was music, and this plan would give him ample time to pursue this passion. He was a talented musician, proficient with a multitude of instruments, creating his own recording studio to experiment and immerse himself in his joy. Overall, however, he excelled at and had a deep love of playing the classical guitar. His enthusiasm for living life and experiencing the world around him extended to various interests over the years; bike riding, plant-based eating and cooking, watercolor painting, and a never-ending curiosity to learn something new.

As a young adult in Central Oregon, Larry initially followed in his father's footsteps and worked in the lumber industry. He then decided to follow a different path, and pursued a nursing career like his mother, sister, and brother. From being a nurse's aide to LPN, to RN, Larry worked at various facilities in Bend, including St. Charles Hospital. After 30 years of service at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta, where he spent the majority of his career in ICU Red (Cardiovascular ICU), he retired in 2019. It was during his time at Piedmont that he met his future wife, Amy. They dated for 11 years before marrying in 2002 on a beautiful cruise stop in Barbados. They continued to travel to many unique places.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Amy (Rappaport); his daughter, Annie (Tallina & Tom); his mother-in-law, Jean (Rappaport); siblings Karen (Wally Corwin), Ron (Honganh), Rod (Pam), and Mark; as well as his furkids, Kaleb and Hattie. Larry will be fondly remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, beloved friends, and coworkers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nyla (Raaen) and Alvin, and his brother, John.

A memorial service will be planned in the future to honor and celebrate Larry's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory can be made to SORBA Woodstock (Mountain Biking) at PO Box 2652, Woodstock, Georgia 30188, REVERB.ORG, Feeding America, or The Morris Animal Foundation.

Larry's kindness, talent, and zest for life will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and an inspiration to pursue one's passions wholeheartedly. All of us left behind are wishing him eternal rest, peace and serenity.

We so enjoyed, and are so grateful for, the friendship and the wonderful times we shared with Larry. He was a fascinating person who was so creative and compassionate; generous in his deeds and in his words. We will miss him so much. We are thankful to him for sharing his special vegan recipes and his music. These things, among many others, will help us to feel his spirit always. Our heartfelt condolences and our love go out to Amy and all his family and friends
