SOUTH SHORE, KY - Larry Dale Pennington, Sr., 71, of South Shore, KY, strummed his final chord on August 3, 2023. Born on April 14, 1952, in Portsmouth, OH, this country music star of life was known for his showmanship and green thumb.

Larry was a maestro when it came to playing the guitar, and his soulful singing had everyone humming along. When he wasn't jamming to music, he could be found cultivating beautiful gardens or soaking up nature. Larry was a true outdoorsy spirit who enjoyed strumming his guitar beneath the summer skies.

With his loving wife, Ruby Kay Conley-Pennington, by his side, Larry also had an incredible encore cast of characters in his life. His children, Larry Dale Pennington, Jr., Rusty Lee Pennington, Laura Anne Lamb, Jason Boedy Pennington, Erin Michelle Lamb, and Jacob Andrew Pennington, brought endless joy and harmony to his world. And his sister, Tammy Virginia Pennington-Warnock, knew all of Larry's greatest hits.

Larry's quirky rhythm of life was preceded by his late parents, John and Louise Pennington, and his brothers, John Pennington, Jr., Charles Vernon Pennington, and Dennis Ray Pennington, who are now tuning into Larry's music from beyond the stars.

Larry's educational journey began at McKell Elementary School, where he strummed through the halls with gusto. But it was his lifelong career of creating a loving family and embracing the beauty of life where Larry's true masterpiece was showcased.

When it was time for Larry to sit back and relax, he found solace in his humble abode, serving as his personal place of worship. No hymns were needed when Larry's soulful guitar filled the air with sweet melodies.

In addition to his love for music and gardens, Larry's pastimes could make any heart sing with joy. Whether he was plucking guitar strings, belting out tunes, or exploring the great outdoors, Larry mastered the art of living life to the fullest.
