Latrice was one of those students (at ISU) who walked into our office and just lite it up with her presence. It is amazing to read the other notes, to see how many hearts she had touched, and these were just the ones that repsonded. She was a lovely lady and will be sadly missed by a great many.

Dorthia, I was the K-4 teacher at THCS when you were in Kindergarten. I just heard about your mother and wanted to express my deepest sympathy to you. I cannot know your pain, but I do know of God's wonderful care during difficult times. Joshua 1:9 Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
God will give you the grace and comfort you need to get through these difficult times. I'm sorry.

Dear D/E Glenn, Mother Vivian Purnell, and the Bethlehem Temple Church Family,
Please accept these few words of sympathy in the loss Sis. Latrice. Sometimes we don't understand the reason why things happen to those we love dearly, but we can maintain the confidence that we serve a God knows what is best! Rest assured that she is resting in the arms of a merciful God and she will remain with you in your thoughts and spirit until we see her again in the rapture along with so many other of our Bethlehem Temple Church saints!
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to be of help to you during this time. We truly mean this from our hearts.

Glenn, I really don't know where to begin. I am praying for you, the kids and Mother Purnell. I have been checking on you through Paulette. Latrice and I had a very good relationship. I could tell her things that other people could not. ?She knew I loved her and I believe she loved me. Even though the nights may seem unbearable, remember God Loves you and He is right there with you.
Love, Bootsie

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

The transition of a loved one is never easy, but I can assure you that time will ease the pain and fond memories of yesterday will help propel you to brighter tomorrows.

I am standing with my former Church Family to honor the Blessed memory of our Dear Sister. Revelations 14:13 offer all those who believe in Jesus Christ some awesome words of encouragement. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. " (Rev 14:13) So take your rest Latrice...

Pastor, big Bro., Glenn...I wish I had the words of consolation and expressions to make the true feeling of loss felt by all of us, go away. This is the same feeling that I all of us want, that know and love you both. In actuality, we know a God that is the father of peace, the shelter in the time of storm and is acquainted with our grief; He knows and understands it - all.
In Him, we know that all of the trials, hard times and hurt we feel will be no more when we see Him. That's what our sister would tell you now and that's the same hope we have, that keeps us -- day to day.
From day to day brother, let our Lord Jesus, keep you and yours.
We Love You,
Brother and Sister Don and Jahnna Hazelwood & Family

Praise The Lord Glenn, Our prayers are with you. Know that you are not alone. God is with you! He is working behind the scenes on your behalf, and He will carry you through. Remember, your challenges didn’t come to stay, they came to pass. Don’t get stuck in the valley by allowing your sorrows to become the focus of your life, the children need you more than ever. Jesus endured the pain of the cross for the joy that was set before Him, and when you focus on the fact that she is now in His loving arms, you will be able to keep walking through that valley! Be determined to press forward. With God on your side, no weapon formed against you shall prosper. As you keep an attitude of faith and expectancy, your challenges will become easier, and you will move forward and live the life of victory the Lord has in store for you.

Elder Glenn Purnell & Family,
Our prayers are with you during this difficult time.
This is so unreal being that I just sent you and your wife a thank you card last week for the wonderful resolution paper that was written by the both of you for my mother-n-law Pastor Shirley Bennett's funeral and now I am sending you words of encouragement for the loss of your wife First Lady Latrice.
I know this is very hard for you, because there are days that I feel like I just can not make it without my mother-n-law. I watch my father-n-law daily try to deal with the pain of not having his wife with him anymore. We would not be able to get through our lost without the Lord, our family and friends. Glenn our prayers go out to you and your family daily. I know that God will give you and your family the strength to go through this one day at a time.
I did not know First Lady Latrice as well as some of the other, but from what I have read in her obituary you were a blessed man to have had such a wonderful wife like First Lady Latrice. I know she has seen Pastor Bennett by now and Terrance Chandler (Buster) and I am sure that they are saying to us all stay the course and continue to do the work of the Lord.
Blessings To You,
The Bennett Family

Nostalgia is such a wonderful thing. Latrice Elaine Wren falls under this category in my life. I have known Latrice since we were both about 8 years old growing up at Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ in Washington Park, IL. We were in Sunday School and other church organizations together. We were part of the "crazy" crew - so many laughs, so much fun. When she laughed she induced laughter and joy from others. My memories of her will only be fond. She is now in the arms of our most loving God. Sister Wren...she's okay. Dorthia and DJ, know that your mom was a wonderful woman and in that she has left a great legacy. Know that she expects great things from you.

Elder Glen, Family and BTC,
I visited your ministry several times while living in Terre Haute, and although, I never met First Lady Latrice formerly, I remember her sitting on the second or third row, and praising and worshipping God with all her might. I can see her smile now. I pray that God comforts and keeps your family during this time, as you cherish the memories of your dear loved one.

Glenn and Family,
Our deepest heartfelt sympathies lie with you and your family.
When I first attended Bethlehem Latrice welcomed me with open arms. Then she told me, "If you're going to be a minister's wife you can't look any old kind of way." She smiled to let me know that she meant business, but with love. (Smile)
Chad and I will continually hold you and yours in our prayers. We love you all!

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16. Latrice was a phenomenal woman who made this world a better place. Her "light" will continue to shine through those who were blessed by knowing her including her family, friends, acquaintances, but most importantly by her students. God Bless!

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Latrice. Latrice was the most beautiful woman, inside and out. She took care of Shai and Shamar when they were little in Bethlehem Temple Church day care. Shamar was delighted when he found out she would be his teacher in 4th grade at Sugar Grove this past year. Shai was also able to see and speak to her before he left for jr high school and again when he visited Sugar Grove. Much to the dismay of the boys, Latrice loved to tell stories about taking care of boys in daycare, changing diapers and such, in front of other students. The boys would just smile and laugh. She had a very gentle touch with all of the kids and the ability to bring out gorgeous smiles and laughter to match her own. I always took comfort in knowing the boys were in her care, in day care and in school. I can't express how greatly she will be missed. She left a deep imprint of herself in our lives that will always live on.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
