LAURA KURUTZ Obituary
On Friday, November 15, 2013, of Wilkins Township, formerly of Wilmerding, age 37, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Our fearless Rainbow Warrior passed on to a better place where she will be a guardian angel to the many left behind. Wife of John Cyril Kurutz; daughter of Norman and Sylvia Liveratti Zibrat of Wilmerding; sister of Scott (Sue) Zibrat of Arizona, Janet (Keith) Gmiter of Gibsonia, Nancy (Mark) Paull of Illinois; daughter-in-law of John G., Jr. and JoAnn Sobek Kurutz; sister-in-law of Jeremy (Quintina) Kurutz, Melissa (Dave) Lescinsky and Melanie (Jason) Sitler; aunt of Jaclyn, Melanie, Natalie, Justin, Austin, Elliott, David, Mackenzie, Jeremy and Kara. Laura is also survived by her "baby," Molly, her dog; many aunts, uncles, her BFF's the Rainbow Warriors and friends. Friends received on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-8 p.m., and Wednesday 9 a.m. till noon at the JAMES F. FILIA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE,354 Marguerite Avenue, Wilmerding, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude the Apostle Church on Wednesday at 1 p.m. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Laura's name can be made to ABOARD Autism Connection of PA, 35 Wilson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15223 and Light of Life Missions, 10 E. North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Good morning Laura,
We are approaching the third anniversary of your ascent to Heaven. Little did I know that, four months later, I would lose my own son, who was with me at your wake.
I still remember, with great affection, the rainbow that you sent me THANKSGIVING day. Everyone was shocked because it was on my back for no apparent reason. I knew why though.
I hope that you and my son Tony have met each other in Heaven and, know that I still miss the active, kind woman that you were. Love, Jacky

I was so sad to hear this today! Laura was wonderful in so many ways and for so many reasons! A true Beauty! I am thankful that I had the pleasure to work with her and to just have been blessed by knowing her! My deepest sympathies to her husband and family!

I didn't know Laura too well. I met her through Jessica and only had the pleasure of spending a little bit of time with her in person, but through Facebook I got to see what a beautiful, special person she was. She constantly amazed me. Constantly. She had an amazingly positive attitude no matter what was thrown at her. She has inspired me to face life head-on and to not to give up.
