Laura Serna-Maytorena Obituary

Laura A. Serna-Maytorena, 57, of Marietta, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, with her beloved family by her side. She was born June 11, 1967 in Athens, Ohio, daughter of Jane Tumas-Serna, of Marietta, and the late Manuel Antonio Serna-Maytorena. Laura was a graduate of Athens High School and Ohio University. On August 4, 1990, she married Eric Richendollar, who survives.



Laura was a singer-songwriter who performed in many area venues, an artist who exhibited her paintings in several area galleries, a former substitute teacher in Marietta and Wood County schools, and a social activist. She was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Society of Marietta.



She was preceded in death by her father.



Besides her mother and husband, left to carry on in her spirit are sons Alexander Richendollar (wife, Annie), of Reno, Chris Richendollar (fiancée Alyssa McCloy), of Marietta, and Nick Richendollar, of Athens, uncle John Thomas and aunt Lise Thomas, of Watsonville, CA, mother-in-law Elaine Winkler, of Newport, KY, sister-in-law Amy Winkler Stewart and brother-in-law Benjamin Stewart, nephews Bradley and Cameron Winkler, all of Cincinnati, and brother-in-law Tim Paton, of Knoxville, TN.



McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be a celebration of her life at a later time.
