Laura Elizabeth "Sis" Spriggs, 78, of Owings, MD, passed away on July 22, 2024. Born on February 17, 1946, in Anne Arundel County, MD, she was the daughter of Morris Spriggs Sr. and Dorothy Spriggs.

Laura graduated from Wiley H. Bates High School in 1964 and devoted much of her life to various roles that served her community. She began her career at the Naval Academy laundry in Annapolis, MD, and later worked as a security guard in the same city. Her career path also led her to become a lab technician at Chevron/Standard Oil in Odenton, MD, and she contributed her skills to housekeeping at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Before retiring, she was a mail handler at the United States Postal Service.

A woman of faith, Laura was a member of Peter's United Methodist Church and attended Cooper's United Methodist Church. Her commitment to her faith and community was evident in her participation and service within these congregations.

Laura also had a passion for smooth hand dancing and shopping, hobbies that brought joy to her and those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Jones; grandchildren, Michael Smith Jr., Tyeshia Jones, and Miya Butler (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Jaelyn Jones, Mikaela Smith, and Elijah Butler; brothers, Ben Spriggs (Ozelius), Joseph Spriggs (Thelma), Morris Spriggs (Helen); sister, Susie Duppins (Charles); and sister-in-law, Helen Spriggs. She was preceded in death by her father, Morris Spriggs Sr.; mother, Dorothy Spriggs; and brothers, Melvin Spriggs (Carrie), Sherman Spriggs, and James Spriggs.

Laura's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her career, and her faith. Her legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
