I remember Lauranda with so many fond memories. She was not much younger than me and I loved spending time at Grammy Eister’s when I was young. We had Arlene who was our “leader” and the three of us had lots of adventures. We used to go up behind their house where there was an old fireplace at the edge of the woods. It was an old abandoned Fire Co. Auxillary picnic site and we would make “bum stew”. While it cooked the three of use played games. I also remember Lauranda’s wedding day! That’s a member for another time.....

I have so many memories of Lauranda. Even though she was my aunt she was younger than me by only a few years. I absolutely loved spending time at Grammies house and we did so many things together. She was the baby but we played for hours on end when I would spent vacation time at her house. We took hikes, went berry picking and cherry picking, played dolls and played catch and even fought as kids are known to do. I think I almost thought Lauranda was a sister for my early years because I was an only child for nine years.

Grammie was so kind and patient. She rarely lost her temper but I remember one time they came to visit us on Race Street and Lauranda must have been about three or four and she wanted a piece of molasses bread. Grammie made it and then Lauranda said she didnt want it, she only wanted butter bread. Grammie made her butter bread and then Lauranda said she wanted molasses bread so again Grammie made her molasses bread. Lauranda went through this routine one more time and finally Grammie took the molasses bread and slapped it unto Laurandas face. She was so stunned and I will never forget that.
