LAURIE GOFF Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Dec. 13 to Dec. 15, 2011.
LAURIE KIM GOFF The family of Laurie Kim Goff is heartbroken to announce her passing on December 11, 2011. Laurie was born December 10, 1956 in Saskatoon, youngest child of Tom and Kris Goff. She is survived by her mother Kris; her husband Doug Maurer, children Katrina and Tom; her brothers Brent (Carol Murphy), Cam (Bev), and Terry; nieces Nadia Moysey (Steve; Anya, Zenon), Kira and Taryn Goff (Steven Maier), nephew Graham Goff; Doug's extended family; her aunts, uncles and cousins; partners at Crossroads Therapeutic Solutions; and many treasured friends, clients, and colleagues. Laurie was predeceased by her father Tom, and sister Shelley. She attended Holliston and Brunskill elementary schools, graduated from Walter Murray Collegiate, and earned two degrees in Psychology at the U of S. After completing her education in her own sweet time, she had a successful practice as a Psychologist for 26 years, serving a broad range of people in PA, Saskatoon, and area. Laurie was an accomplished baker, cook, handcrafter, and gardener. She loved to make things. She was always gracious and welcoming, and always had time for friends, and yet more baking. She loved to make people happy and thought feeding people sweets made them as happy as eating them made her. She loved to read. Laurie's version of heaven would be sitting in a rocking chair, wrapped in a blanket, big warm slippers on, a paperback in hand and a cat on her lap, with something baking in the oven to share with loved ones. This is how we like to see her now. Please join us to celebrate the great good fortune of having Laurie in our lives Saturday, December 17 at 2:00 pm, Park Funeral Chapel, 311 3rd Ave N. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local food bank and learning centre.

Doug Katrina Tom
The magnitude of Laurie's fall and sudden death set shock waves through everyone not measurable on the humanoid Richter scale of emotions. Laurie was a faithful and compassionate friend and psychologist. She was champion advocate for her clients. Laurie's calm positive psychological and compassionate skills helped so many people through life's most emotional challenging and chaotic life lessons. Laurie always said that the worst kind of emotional pain was the death of loved ones... and there are no guarantees for tomorrow so make today count. It's been a privilege to have your inspirational brief life touch ours. We give thanks and praise for a job well done. Your smile and zest for life will continue to illuminate our lives.

^L^ Soaring free on the wings of love…
