Leila Johnson Obituary

Visit the Legacy Remembers website to view the full obituary.
Leila Lynn Johnson was born on April 18, 1942 in Louisville, KY. Her gift of taking care of others was evident early in life.

After graduating high school in 1960, Leila (Lil) went to nursing school and turned her gift into a profession. Throughout her career as a nurse, Lil served her community by doing home health care and she had a heart for psychiatric nursing.

Her nurturing spirit carried over to her family and friends. Lil went on many adventures, including trips across the country with her mom and sisters as the self proclaimed Sea Eagles. She was a dedicated member of Kenwood Heights Christian Church. One thing that can be said about Lil is that she always left people and things better than when she found them!

She is survived by her children Denise Eldridge and Dennis Collier, Jr. (Sherri); her granddaughters: Tiffany Davis, Amanda Medley, and Melissa Eldridge; her great grandchildren: Julyen, Julius, Jaydes, Michael, and Daisy; her siblings: Betty Demala, Mike Rothfuss, Ada Hartz (Jack), and Robert May, Jr. (Valerie); many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and of course her sweet dog, Stella. She is preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Robert May, Sr and siblings Jim Rothfuss and Frank Rothfuss.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Kenwood Heights Christian Church. Visitation is from 2:00pm - 4:00pm with the funeral at 4:00pm. The address to the church is 5620 New Cut Rd, Louisville, KY 40214.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Leila's name to Kenwood Heights Christian Church or Crusade for Children.

I've known Leila for many years because we are members of Kenwood Heights Christian Church. She was also in our KHCC Widows Support Group and we loved our lunches together. Leila will be truly missed, but I know she is not suffering and is in Heaven with our Lord and Savior.
RIP Leila - love you my sweet friend.
