Lena P. Mercier

PERU - Lena P. Mercier, 81, formerly of MacIntosh Drive, Peru, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Claremont, N.H., Nov. 7, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Esther (Valente) Parrotto.
Lena was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church and a former member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She enjoyed cooking, reading and gardening; however her true love was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Millard S. Mercier of Plattsburgh, whom she married Aug. 2, 1947, in Claremont, N.H.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Sue Mercier of Highland, Mark and Cindy Mercier of Verbank and Frank and Melita Mercier of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Louisa and Matthew; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Lou Coutermarsh of Florida, Virginia and Ernest Buinicky of Washingtonville, Molly and Jerry Maloney of Endwell and Yolanda Rogers of New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Josephine Spaulding; and brother, Victor Parrotto.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 19, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
