Leo ULRICH Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post from Nov. 26 to Dec. 1, 2012.
ULRICH, Leo Bernard
On Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the age of 95 years, Leo went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie; parents John and Isabelle; brothers and sisters Harold, Margaret Josephine (Harold), Austin/Casey (Helen), Helen (Robert), Robert (Tess), Richard, sister Mildred (Larry), Wilfred (Anne); parents-in-law William and Ada Ruth; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dorothy (Karl), Les (Pearl and Rose), Roy (Kay), Charles; and son-in-law Robert.
Leo is survived by his children: son Ken (Donna), daughter Elaine, son Douglas (Sharleen); grandchildren Kyle (Andrea), Kelly (Tim), Kris (Kelly), Karla (Dustin), Michelle (Garnet), Shari (Byron), Linnea, Sharelle, Taran; great-grandchildren Casey, Jessy, Evey, Brianna, Owen, Wyatt; sisters-in-law Pearl and Grace; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Leo was born on the Bond farm in the Estlin District on June 10, 1917. He received schooling at Kirby School. He started farming with his father and in 1945, bought his first half section on the correction line.
On February 23, 1949 Leo married Elsie Genevieve Davis. Together they farmed for many years, eventually moving into a condo in Regina. Dad never retired from farming. Over the years Leo was active in various church, community, school and grain organizations. He served as deacon and was on the board at Cameron Memorial Baptist Church and Hillsdale Baptist Church. He participated in many community events of the Yankee Ridge Community Club, where Elsie was a long-time member.
Leo served as trustee on Kirby School Board and as a director, lineman and Secretary Treasurer of South-West Regina Rural Telephone Company. He also served as a Councillor in the R.M. of Bratt's Lake. Leo was a registered seed grower years ago, and we, his children, remember "roguing" the wheat at sunset. Leo greatly enjoyed time spent with family and friends and especially enjoyed the grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He and Elsie participated in various social events at the condo and both appreciated the community and families of everyone at Marion Park.
Leo and Elsie traveled to many interesting locations in Canada and the USA, visiting family along the way and making many friends, some of whom lived in neighbouring local towns. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are graciously declined. For those desiring, donations may be made to a charity of choice or Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, 204 - 3775 Pasqua Street, Regina, SK S4S 6W8.
