KELLY, Leona Alice Lemieux
January 15, 1908 - March 19, 2012
Leona Kelly died peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the age of 104 years.
Her memory will be lovingly and long remembered by her two children, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Children, John Howard Kelly (Janet) and Anne Hawitt (Terry); grandchildren, Shauna Kelly, Kevin Kelly (Julie), Michael Hawitt (Sarah), John Hawitt, Brian Hawitt (Jamie), Karen Hawitt, Sarah Cormack (Neal); great- grandchildren, Lauren and Max Hawitt, Georgina Hawitt, Dana Hawitt, Zoë Hawitt, Owain, Leona and Liam Cormack. Leona was predeceased by her husband J. Howard Kelly QC, and her parents Melrose and Edward Lemieux.
A life-long resident of Calgary, Leona attended Sacred Heart Convent and St. Mary's Girls School in Calgary and was a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan in 1928.
Leona was an avid reader, keen gardener, accomplished athlete and enjoyed her monthly French conversational study group. She was a volunteer at the V.O.N.
Leona's wise and unbiased council, her gracious manner, patience and loving encounters, will long be remembered by her family.
Mom, "Gammer" will be sadly missed and her example and zest for life will remain dear to the hearts of her family and to those whose lives she touched.

In living memory of Leona Kelly, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
