ROCKVILLE — Leonard Gee Pyle of Rockville, Ind., and formerly of Marshall, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at the Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. He was born April 29, 1922 in Marshall, Ind., to Lennie Pyle and Mary Mendenhall Pyle. He was a Farmer and attended school at Marshall Elementary School and graduated from Marshall High School. He also attended Purdue University.He was a member of Marshall Federated Church in Marshall, Ind.; Rockville Elks Lodge 2471; Paul Taylor Post 48; and active in Parke County Farm Credit Services and other local farm organizations. He married Ruth Ann Jackman on Oct. 29, 1944 in Boise, Idaho and she died on June 12, 1985. He married Lucille Nelson Pyle and she passed away in 2005. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force as a B-17 Pilot during World War II.He is survived by daughter: Marilyn Rode and husband Marvin of Marshall, Ind.; son, Roger Pyle and wife Jolene of Davidson, N. C.; two sisters, Martha Delp and husband Ross of Grange Corner, Ind., and Henrietta Delp and husband Earl of Bloomington, Ind.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Welty and husband Jeff; six great-grandchildren, Charles Pyle and wife Catherine, Mary Lamp and husband Mark, Julie Besignano and husband Jack, and Bethany Rode. He was preceded in death by his parents.Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, in Marshall Federated Church in Marshall, Ind., with the Rev. Don Perry officiating. Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Barnes-Spangler Funeral Home, in Rockville. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Marshall. I just wanted to say that Leonard was such a special great uncle to me. He always had a smile on his face. I will truly miss him and know the same goes for the whole family. Thoughts and Prayers are with the whole family.
