SALEM — Leonette (Belleau) Strout of Salem, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Douglas G. Strout.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Theophile and Albina (Audet) Belleau. During the Korean War years she worked as a civilian stenographer for the Marine Corps' military court. Most of the following years were devoted to her family and the raising of her children.
Leonette was a truly devoted member of the Club Richelieu Nord de Boston. She served multiple terms as president, vice-president and held the post of secretary a great many years. She faithfully represented the club as a delegate at Regional meetings and at District and International Conventions. Leonette will be greatly missed by members throughout the organization.
She was also a long-time member of Ste. Anne Parish who loved music, and for over 20 years sang in the Ste. Anne Choir.
Leonette is survived by four daughters, Michelle Strout of Newton, Cynthia Strout-Dwyer and her husband Gerard Dwyer of Dorchester, Leonette M. Strout of Salem, Lisa Strout and her husband James Taber of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Rudolph Belleau of Londonderry, N.H.; a sister, Fernande Labrecque of Salem; a grandson, Colin Dwyer of Dorchester and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Meo Belleau and a sister, Simone Strout.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Route 114 / 1-A, Salem on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8:45 a.m. to be followed by her funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, may be made to Ste. Fond memories of Leonettte and her husband attending many Richelieu events in Rochester NH. we truly loved her and Doug at Old orchard Beach congress. Sincere sympathys to her family. She will be missed by all.
