LEROY T. GASKAMP

EL CAMPO - Leroy T. Gaskamp, age 87, of El Campo, passed away on March 16, 2011. He was born on April 21, 1923, in Brenham, to the late Edwin and Emma (Glaesmann) Gaskamp.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of the ground crew in the 364th Fighter Group- 385th Fighter Squadron at Hovington Air Base in England. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 40 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Telecom Pioneers and Christ Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Dodwell and husband Stephen of San Antonio, Carla Brady and husband Timothy of Pipe Creek; sons, Larry Gaskamp and wife Kathy of The Woodlands, Rob Gaskamp and wife Doris of El Campo; granddaughters, Jennifer Green and husband Joel, Kasey Todd and husband Robert, Emily Morris and husband Preston, and Jamie Gaskamp; grandsons, Austin Gaskamp and Paul Newby; brothers, Gilbert Gaskamp and wife Erna, Vernon Gaskamp and wife Jeanette; and sister-in-law, Olivia Gaskamp.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Katherine Emshoff Gaskamp; sister, Mandy Schulze and husband Melvin; brothers, Erwin Gaskamp Sr., and Alton Gaskamp and wife Winnie; sister-in-law, Evelyn Cherry; and mother and father-in-law, Elsie and Fritz Emshoff.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday with the family receiving visitors from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jake Fain officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery at Gay Hill.
Pallbearers are Austin Gaskamp, Bruce Gaskamp, Paul Newby, Preston Morris, Joel Green and Robert Todd.
Memorials in his memory may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to Houston Hospice-El Campo.
