Lester and I were childhood friends and next door neighbors. We worked and played a lot together, as farm kids did in those days. I have many fond memories of Lester. As kids, Lester was known as "Junior" and I was known as "Bub". I guess we both outgrew those nicknames.

Lester was a couple years older than me, so he had a car before I could drive.A fond memory; He treated me to a day at the drag races in Martin one Sunday. One the way home he asked if I wanted to share a Pizza. I said yes of course, as I was always hungry. It was ok that I did not have money to pay for the Pizza. Things were much simpler back then.

I had never had a Pizza from Pizza Queen before. The only Pizza I ever had before that day was the simple box of Chef Boyardee at home. The pizza we had that day blew my mind. I had no idea that Pizza could taste that good. He was a kind and generous man.

May he R.I.P.
