LILLIAN MATILDA HAWKINS
Peacefully passed away on Saturday evening, May 14, 2011 at her residence. The beloved wife of the late Kenneth Hawkins and mother of Howard F., Kenneth L., Ronald W. (Denise), Craig A. (Cherice), Larry A. (Joan) Hawkins and Lisa A. (James) Powell, all of the D.C. area. She is also survived by one sister, Lucretia Trice, one brother-in law Curtis (Sandra); sisters-in law, Rev. Shirley Chapman and Jenny Jackson; one aunt, Ann Jones and a host of other relatives and friends. Service to be held: Friday, May 20 at the Mt Zion Baptist Church, 5101 14th Street, NW. Viewing from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Arrangements by Johnson & Jenkins Funeral Home, 716 Kennedy St., N.W.

This message is to all of the children of the Hawkins household. All of us have grown up, together, on Longfellow Street ! The Hawkins, the Borham's, the Kirbys, the Jackson's and the Welters to name a few. Your Mom and Dad helped to watch over all of us and they never objected even when I taught ballet to some of the boys !! Please know that Mrs. Lillian Hawkins will be missed and was a valued member to the Longfellow Community. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and one thing is certain - with the constant care that you gave her, your Mom knew that she was loved and appreciated - deepest sympathy
