Lillian Hussey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 15, 2021.
Lillian (Sheehy) Hussey, "Queenie", 90 of West Hartford, beloved wife of 59 years to the late Edward S. Hussey, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021. She was born in Hartford on Easter Sunday, daughter of the late John J. Sheehy and Catherine (Shea) Sheehy. She was a resident of West Hartford since 1960. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a sales associate at Sage-Allen Department Store. She also worked at the Royal Typewriter in Hartford where she met and then married "Ed". Lil enjoyed music, reading, travel, baking and a cup of tea or glass of merlot. She had a deep appreciation of her Irish heritage. She cherished her time with the "Knitters" Club. These women met for over 60 years and shared enough stories and laughs to last a lifetime. She will be remembered for her strong faith, sense of humor ("hello"), and her easy going and optimistic personality. Lillian leaves her two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Susan Hussey of West Hartford and Michael and Mary Ellen Hussey of St. Petersburg, FL; her daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Anthony Gallicchio of Stonington; a sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Dan Ragnoni of West Hartford and a sister-in-law, Anna Sheehy of West Hartford. She also leaves six grandchildren and spouses: Kevin and Allegra, Brian, Timothy and Julie, Sean, Anthony and Laura, as well as one great-grandchild, Cora and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, John J. Sheehy. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Hughes Health and Rehab for all the wonderful care and compassion shown to them and Lil. Special thanks to Sophie, her aide and friend. Funeral procession will be Saturday, (April 17), 9:45 am from the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 872 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Visitation will be from 8:45am to 9:30am prior to the mass at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hughes Health and Rehab, 29 Highland Street, West Hartford, CT 06119 or West Hartford Food Pantry 50 South Main Street, RM 130, West Hartford, CT 06107. A celebration of Lillian's life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen
