Lillian McGraw Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Mar. 7, 2009.

McGRAW - Lillian Born in Boissevain, Manitoba on March 19th, 1940, Lillian passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years Romeo, son Cary (Kathy) in Calgary, daughter Melinda (Brooks) in Langley, granddaughters Kealy (Justin), Nicole and Julia in Calgary, sisters Joan (Bill) and Marge (Gil) in Winnipeg and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Lillian lived in many places across Canada and Europe as she followed Romeo during his military career, finally settling in the Lower Mainland in 1980. She made lots of friends along the way and kept in touch with many of them through the years. She had an easy way about her. She loved to talk and she was a great listener. She loved to have fun and her laugh was quite distinctive. Lillian was well known for her love of animals. She spent much of her spare time finding homes for strays (a few finding a home with her and Romeo) and dog sitting for family and friends. After her retirement from the Federal Government in 1995, she took up the Bass Fiddle, and spent many hours singing and playing music with Romeo, their daughter and friends in a local bluegrass band. A Celebration of her life to take place on Sunday, March 8th, 1 - 5pm at the family home in Langley.

Melinda & family,

Your Mom was a lovely lady, she was a lot of fun. Although I never worked in the department with her, (she'd retired by the time I came over), I still have some very fond memories of her on the other side of the baffle boards!

My deepest sympathy,
Take care my friend!
