Frank J. Daugenti Oldest member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 22, active with Elizabeth Elks and Golden Gloves, married for 73 years Frank J. Daugenti, 97, of South Plainfield, N.J., passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 1, 2014, at Genesis Elder Care-The Woodlands, Plainfield, N.J. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the McCriskin- Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, N.J. 07080. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum, Colonia, N.J. Family and friends may attend the visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, from 1 to 5 p.m., and Wednesday from 9:30 until the time of the service in the funeral home. For more information, visit mccriskinfuneralhome.com. Born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., Frank was a resident until 2006, when he settled in South Plainfield. Frank was employed as a sheet metal worker by Local No. 22 of Cranford prior to his retirement in 1982. He was the oldest member of the union at the time of his death. Frank was extremely active for many years at the former Elizabeth Elks Lodge. He served in various capacities, specifically the children's special needs committee and as house chairman, where he was responsible for running their public bar and restaurant. He enjoyed saltwater fishing, was a member of several former Italian American heritage clubs, and was active with Elizabeth's Golden Gloves, where he facilitated bouts and traveling accommodations. Frank was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Avoil, Rose Speck, Chester, Michael, Nicholas and Joseph Daugenti. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Anne Heinrich, with whom he joined hands in marriage on Nov. 1, 1941; daughter, Judy Daugenti-Sweeney and her husband, Dennis, of Utah; son, Francis and his wife, Patricia, of South Plainfield; five grandchildren, Marianne, Francis, Patricia, Heather and Emma; and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Noah and Benjamin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern New Jersey, 400 Morris Ave., Denville, N.J. 07834.

Another man of the Greatest Generation is now Resting in Peace! A beautiful soul who loved life and especially his family! How wonderful to be given so much time with this great man here on earth, and I include my time with him a true gift, too, through the years . May his entire family take comfort and joy for all the great memories you have of Mr. D. He loved you all so much! He was a joy to know ! Our loving thoughts are with you all.
