Linda Friesen
The family of Linda Friesen is saddened to announce her passing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She passed from this world at peace surrounded by her grandchildren at St. Pauls Hospital in Saskatoon on March 11, 2014.
Linda was born on September 11, 1919 in Hepburn, Saskatchewan to Sarah and Abram Penner. She spent her early years on the farm West of Hepburn and later moved with her family to a homestead in the Compass district Northwest of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
Menno Friesen and Linda were married in 1939. During their married life they lived in the Northwestern part of Saskatchewan at various locations such as Meadow Lake, St Walburg and Lloydminster. Menno passed away in 1977. Linda lived in the family home in Lloydminster until 1987 at which time she moved to Saskatoon.
Linda was a full time housewife and a master at domestic arts much to the benefit of her children and grandchildren. She was a model of enduring positive spirit and embodied the grace of unconditional love of family. We are eternally grateful for her guidance.
Linda was master gardener. Her flowers and vegetable garden were always much to be admired. She loved the adventure of travel having been to Australia, Great Britain, a Caribbean Cruise and a tour of the Eastern Sea Board. She was an avid reader and had a library of many of the classic books in English literature.
Linda is the last of a family of 8 children. She was predeceased by her husband Menno, parents Abram and Sarah Penner, Siblings Willie, Elsie, Alfred, Abe, Ernest, Jacob, Marianne, Josephine, daughter-in-law Ethel Friesen.
Linda is survived by her children Eugene (Ruth), Ruth (Bob), Carol (Les), and Blake (the late Ethel Friesen) as well as her grandchildren Douglas (Cheryl), Mark (Colleen), Dwayne (Kim) and Bradley (Ana) Friesen, Tracey (Vince) Judge, Wanda Templeton, Cameron (Michelle)Templeton, Howard (Rhonda) Thomson, Linda (Duncan) Osinchuck, Chris (Lorena) Friesen, Jean (Tyler) Moore and Timothy (Natalia) Friesen. As well, Linda had many great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In her last few years, Linda's physical health was failing and she lived at a care home managed by Betty Sandulak. The family is very thankful for the care and compassion shown by Betty and her staff to Mother during her stay there.
