Linda Gresik Obituary
Dr. Linda McConnell Gresik passed away in her home on April 4, 2017, in Redondo Beach, California. She was 71 years old.
Linda was born on June 30, 1945 in Stratton, Ohio, to her parents CarGill and Vera Faye McConnell. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1967. After teaching oversees in Germany she came to California and taught kindergarten through fifth grade at Torrance Unified School District while obtaining her Masters of Science in Education from California Lutheran College. After twenty plus years at Torrance Unified School District, she became Assistant Principal in the Santa Ana Unified School District. In 1994, she obtained her Doctorate of Education from Pepperdine University while simultaneously becoming a principal in the Bellflower Unified School District. After her 12 years as principal in Bellflower, Linda retired and became an Assistant Professor at National University in Los Angeles. She spent the last 12 years of her teaching career at National University where she happily contributed to this learning community.
Linda devoted her life to teaching and served tirelessly for the betterment of education. She was a highly respected and deeply loved mentor and friend to many. Linda held her family very close to her heart, and is survived by her two sons, Sean and Ian, and her three granddaughters, McKay, Lyndie and Jackie. A memorial reception will take place at Hilton Garden Inn in the city of El Segundo on May 6th starting at 2:00pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Linda's life. My friend Linda, I was so worried I haven't heard from you and so sad to read this. You where a amazing person to me and I am so privledged to have known you. Your positive attitude and determination in life left a impression with me I will cherish forever. You mentored me and helped me through some tough times. Linda you where a beautiful soul. My condolences to Linda's family-sisters, brother, sons, & granddaughters. I miss you my friend.

Dr Gresik touched many lives with her smile, dedication and positive attitude. Never once saw her being negative or even upset. BUSD ILC parents, teachers and students, specially PTA, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, which are the groups I participated in, have nothing but, respect, admiration, and gratitude for her

Dr. Gresik was a very nice person. She was the principal where my children attended school. She had a love and a passion for education. She went above and beyond when it came to helping kids.
Unfortunately, my family and I moved to Torrance and had to leave ILC.
One day, I ran into Dr. Gresik at the local grocery store:-) she knew who I was and even remembered my kids. She was an amazing lady. She will be missed

I will always remember Linda walking her big red dog daily down Miradores ... long before she became a mother... I remember her joy when she discovered she was to become a mother....

Linda was an enthusiastic principal at my children school at the Intensive Learning Center. I work under her direction for the sane school. Thank you Linda for inspiring us to excel in education. My condolences to her beloved sons and family.

So sorry for your loss. Dr Gresik made a huge difference in my son Ryan's life at ILC while she was principal , I will always remember what she did for my son! She cared about all the students and the staff at the school.

The woman I admire most is Dr. Linda Gresik, as I called her Dr. G. She was my inspiration. She was the most passionate loving, giving and the full definition of a Humanitarian. She has done a great deal in her life that hundreds will pursuit due to her encouragement. Her beautiful smile made a many of my days. The loving spirit she exuded in every action she has taken is marked with success. A woman of a wonderful, delightful caliber. Dr. G was a super a human in my eyes. Her footsteps will be followed by many as she was fun and loved. Dr. G always gave me guidance, encouragement and a whole lot of enjoyable things to do in just in my everyday life. Dr. G was inspiration to whomever crossed her path. She embodied a spirit of greatness. She loved and was very proud of her children and let us not forget grand babies she loved them more than life itself. I will dearly miss her as she was my family and extraordinary mentor. The light that she brought to lives will be forever remembered. Dr. Gresik is one of GODS greatest creation gone.
I will always remember our daily chats and experiences... most of all I would give anything to her say " Awwww Honnnnneeeeeeyyyyyyyy...

Dr Linda Gresik or how our daughters would call her "auntie Linda" was a caring, giving and always committed to do her best in all she did. She was the "heart" of the LA campus teacher education department and she cannot be replaced. He work, her dedication and her giving will stay with all of us for years and years to come. We lost her suddenly and her absence has touched our hearts in unexpected ways. Linda, we carry you with us... rest in peace, dearest friend and colleague.

There were no words to describe properly how much Dr. Gresik meant to the National University community, she was a leader of many, a mentor of mentors and a friend to all. Her warmth, her smile, her empathy knew no end. We will miss you Dr. G!

Dr. Gresik was the principal at the school my children attended in Bellflower. Quickly we became fast friends as we sat on committees. She was one of the most giving, intelligent, open people I have had the pleasure of calling friend. My daughters and I have been touched by her kindness and warmth. Dr. Gresik left a mark on our life.
