Linda Kemper Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2011.
Linda Jeanette Cortes Kemper , 54, passed away in Houston, Texas, on February 1, 2011. The daughter of Leigh and Virginia Cortes, born on December 20, 1956, in Ruston, Louisiana.
Linda graduated from Villa Maria High School in Brownsville, Texas. She travelled to Europe and studied at University in Surrey, England. She continued her studies in Art and Journalism at Louisiana Tech University where she met her college sweetheart Joseph G. Kemper, Jr. and maintained a loving marriage recently celebrating 30 years together.
Linda was a diamond with many facets. She had an incredible personality with a sense of humor all her own. She was a creative gourmet cook, home decorator, gardener, and artist. She thrived on the challenge of a weekend cub scout camping trip or camping with her family in Colorado. There was no prouder mother than when her son hit a home run, received Baptism and First Communion, and when he attained the Boy Scouts rank of Eagle.
Preceded in death by her mother Virginia A. Cortes (2010) and sister Debbie L. Cortes (1972). Linda is survived by her beloved husband Joseph G. Kemper, Jr., their son Joseph G. Kemper III, her father Leigh M. Cortes and her three sisters: Kerri Celene (J. Downey Bridgwater); Tammi Annette (Robert J. Holley Jr.); and Jenni Maria (Paul Granero). She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Christopher, Catherine, Abel, and Sophie, and numerous relatives.
Wife, mother, daughter, sister, best friend, she will be immeasurably missed. Visitors are welcome to a Reception/Funeral at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5th at Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Fwy. followed by a burial service at Glenwood Cemetery.

I remember Linda often and am so glad that I convinced her to attend our 30th High School reunion in 2005 because after that we kept in touch until the time of her passing. I loved her dearly and hope and pray that her son and Joe and extended family have been able to move forward without Linda in their lives. Linda was bigger than life! She always made me laugh. She was a sweet friend and I miss her very much. May she Rest In Peace

To Linda's Dear Family,
It was with much sadness that I recently heard of Linda's passing. I lost touch with Linda after her marriage to Joe, but I still remember her fondly. Especially the summer of 1976 that we did nothing every day but laugh, talk and play Backgammon. Linda hated to lose and always made me play just one more if she was behind in the score. Linda was a bridesmaid in my wedding and I still remember how fantastic she looked in her dress. Please know that I will be praying for all of you and asking for God's love to surround you and support you during this difficult time.

Dear Joe & Family,

Linda was a good buddy. I remember her best at the Robert Lewis Stevenson restaurant in Ruston. I think that she liked that place the best.

I am so sorry that she is gone.

You guys were one of the few at Tech who had some understanding of what it was like not to be from North Louisiana. I think that Linda both loved and hated Ruston, as well as Tech.

I wish you, Joe, and the entire family the best during this difficult time.

Ol' Steve

To my dear, sweet cousin. I am so glad we had the time to visit for a while last October. You have left us behind for a while, but know you are with our grandparents, your mom and Debbie. You will be missed and I know you are an angel in heaven.
