Linda LEE Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Mar. 11 to Mar. 12, 2016.
LEE, Linda Lou
1944 - 2016
It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our Mom, wife and grandma, Linda Lou Lee (née Jeffrey) on March 8, 2016. Linda was born January 9, 1944 in Edmonton, AB. She was predeceased by her parents, Alex (2015) and Pearl (2009). Linda married Alwyn on June 4, 1966 and they have 3 children: Brian (Clara, granddaughter Jayme), Marc (granddaughter Hannah) and Darla (Doug, grandsons Jake and Luke, granddaughter Natalie). Mom supported her children and grandchildren in all their sporting activities; she taught us about sportsmanship, to work hard and be proud of our accomplishments. She taught us to persevere and that small daily improvements would lead to exceptional results over time. Mom had a great passion for living naturally and chemically free; family and friends always came to Mom to get her remedies, from using baking soda and vinegar for pretty much everything to her famous mustard plasters. Mom was always willing to help people which was second nature after graduating from nursing at Regina General Hospital and retiring from Canadian Blood Services. Mom's spring and summertime passion was her flower garden at the cabin. Together, our parents built a multi-level garden that attracted butterflies, her favorite hummingbirds and much to her chagrin, bunnies. She was an avid yoga participant and loved her weekly classes, challenging herself to maintain her flexibility as she knew this was key to her goal of living to become a centurion. She loved her daily walks wherever she was; while home in Saskatoon, spending the spring through fall at the cabin at Wakaw Lake, or vacationing in Palm Springs. She had her regular routes and loved chatting with the other regular walkers. Mom had a knack for quickly solving the daily papers' cryptoquip and jumble puzzles; this was her morning brain workout before her walk and yoga. Mom loved baking bread, buns and her delicious Saskatoon Berry and Flapper pies. Many request for family suppers were to have extra buns and two pies. She made the best cabbage rolls, which were a staple for Christmas suppers. We will continue to live with the values Mom taught us, which are beautifully summarized by Tim McGraw's lyrics 'Stay Humble and Kind'. We would like to thank the staff at RUH and St. Paul's Hospitals for their care for Mom over the last two months. Heartfelt thanks go out to extended family and friends who have been so supportive to all of us. At Mom's request, there will be no funeral service. At a later date, there will be a Celebration of her life. Arrangements entrusted to Wally Markewich.

Darla and family, your Mom, wife and Grandma will be remembered for so many wonderful things. We will remember her for her bright, genuine smile and her sincere interest in being 'present' with the person she was talking to. She would greet you with a smile and leave you with a smile. Although she left us too quickly, she touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Our hearts are with you and our deepest condolences for your loss.

We were notified of Linda's passing as I was cleaning my kitchen sink with baking soda and vinegar. How appropriate. We met Linda and Al in Hawaii and were fortunate to visit them in Saskatoon and had a return visit from them at our beach home. We have many fond memories of our times together. Linda was one special lady and will remain in our hearts. Prayers and much aloha from us to you, Al, and your family. We know she will be sorely missed by you and all who knew her.

Al and family, we were so saddened to hear of the passing of Linda, your beautiful wife, mother and grandmother. When we met the two of you here in Palm Springs, we knew we would become good friends. We shared so many laughs and good times together which we will cherish. We also enjoyed our visit to your cabin and of course, your visits with us in Regina. We looked forward to our morning coffee time with the two of you at Aspen Mills in Palm Springs. It was so nice meeting Darla and family here a few weeks ago. I am so happy that I got to speak to Linda in January. We will miss her smiling face and her upbeat personality. May she rest in peace and may her memory be eternal. Our deepest condolences.
