Lionel Gundry-White beloved husband of Loretta (Etta) passed away in Calgary on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Lionel was born and raised in Calgary, he served in the Canadian Navy from 1942 – 1945, he played for The Calgary Stampeders in 1945 – Jersey No. 11. He worked for BMO from 1938 to 1979. He was a long standing member of the Free Masons a member of the Cascade Lodge in Banff for 50 years; The Royal Canadian Legion, and a member of the Parade Unit of Shriners International. Lionel loved to travel with Etta and enjoyed curling, golf, bridge and was an avid reader and poker player. Anyone whomever met Lionel knew that he made a difference on this earth, from his very beginning to his very end. He will continue to be loved and will be missed by all. Lionel will be lovingly remembered by his wife Etta, son David (Olga), grandchildren Kevin (Nadine) and Cheryl Ann, brother Clifford (Elaine) and numerous sister and brother-in- laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Marguerite and his first wife Patricia. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to a local Calgary Charity. In living memory of Lionel Gundry-White, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Dear family,
I was a colleague of Lionel's in Calgary from 1973 to 1976. He was in divisional marketing and I was training manager. I consulted Lionel about using city hall branch as a training branch because he had been there may years. He agreed and we ended up having 6 trainees there at one time. It was a very good experiment that would not have worked without Lionel's support.
As a colleague he will be fondly remembered . Condolences with his passing. A wonderful human being!

Etta I am so sad to hear about Lionel's death. He was a very special man. I remember him as the Best Santa we ever had at our BMO Xmas parties.
And gatherings at the Roy and Laura Harris's home.

Dear Etta
When I was a young man just entering the work force (many years ago) I had the good fortune to have Lionel as a mentor and tutor at the Bank of Montreal "City Hall Branch". We developed a warm relationship that lasted over the years as we occasionally bumped into each other and recalled memories from days gone by. It was a relationship I treasured. I will miss him dearly and my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this sad time.

Dear Loretta,
I was sad to read about Lionel today. He was such a "gentleman" in every sense of the word. I always enjoyed our visits when you & he came to the office. I will be thinking of you on Saturday as you say your final goodbye to this wonderful man.

Dear Loretta and your family,
We are so sorry for your profound loss. It was always such a pleasure to be in Lionel's company and share Stampeder victories and all the near victories. Lionel was a special person to our medical practice, and we will miss him and his infectious humour.
