KILGORE -- Mass for Lola McElyea, 72, of Kilgore, will be 12:00 p.m. noon Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Christ the King Catholic Church, with Father Mark Kusmirek officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Cemetery. Mrs. McElyea died Wednesday, July 6, 2005. She was born January 10, 1933, in Baker, Louisiana. Mrs. McElyea graduated from Baker High School before attending LSU. She married Red McElyea, and they lived in several towns before moving to Kilgore in 1972. Mrs. McElyea was a devout Christian, who was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Red McElyea. Mrs. McElyea is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Carmel and Eleanor McElyea of Henderson, David and Carey McElyea of Kilgore, and Dale and Christy McElyea of Longview; one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Gene Sparkman of Katy; two sisters, Martha Greer of Atlanta, Ga., and Mercedes Pugh of Baker, La.; one brother, Leighton Ewell of Baton Rouge, La.; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly McElyea of Longview, Natalie McElyea of New Orleans, La., Taylor McElyea of Kilgore, Lee McElyea of Henderson, Katie Sparkman of Katy, Elizabeth Sparkman of Katy, Landon McElyea of Kilgore, Stephanie Sparkman of Katy, Dayton McElyea of Longview, and Dalton McElyea of Longview; two great-grandchildren, Valarie and Alexander McElyea of Longview; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. The family will receive friends before and after the Rosary.
