Lora Ann (Catman) Garey

Lora Ann (Catman) Garey, age 57, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on August 3, 2025. She was born on April 20, 1968, in West Point, New York, to the late Ronald Catman, Sr., a retired U.S. Navy veteran, and Donna (Kerr) Catman.

Lora proudly served her country in the United States Army from 2003 until 2016, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Combat Medic. She deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and received multiple decorations, including the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

After her military service, Lora continued her lifelong calling to care for others. She earned her nursing license in Texas in 2005 and later worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Florida, where she was known for her compassion, strength, and dedication to those in her care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Garey. She is survived by her mother, Donna (Kerr) Catman; her son, Jacob D'Amour, and his wife Tonya (Bills) D'Amour; and her siblings, Lisa (Catman) Monteau, Ron Catman, Jr., Dawn (Catman) Burns, and Michael Catman. Her brother Ron (U.S. Navy) her son Jacob (U.S. Air Force), and her nephew Logan Burns (U.S. Army) continued the family's proud tradition of military service. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at Promise Land Baptist Church, 10343 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32221, on September 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM, followed by burial with military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218, at 11:00 AM.
