Loretha Smith Taylor was a wonderful, caring and understanding person. When I came to George Washington Carver Elementary School in Richmond as the music teacher. She cherished the idea of teaching students the foundations of music during the academic day. There were 7 pianos in the building. She arranged to have the pianos brought to the auditorium, so students could practice their piano lesson in the morning. Sometime during the year I gave student recitals. One of my star piano pupil's was Juda. He was a gifted young man. Loretha saw great protentials in Juda. She invited the Richmond Sperintendent and School Board to hold their meeting at her school. Juda played Fur Elise by Beethoven for the board. On the other hand, Loretha would drop in on the piano students to check on their progress and give advice. I gave other musical plays, Choir performances involving the students body as well. I loved and appreciated Loretha for her believing in me and my vision. It made me feel like, I was a real music achiever. When she left Carver, everything changed. Things were never the same. Under another principal, in 2016 Carver's Choir was invited to City Hall for a Christmas performance. The choir performed so well they were invited back for the next year. Loretha didn't know that her furture vision was still being cared out. The Carver Choir Performance of 2016 an be viewed on YOU TUBE. May her memories live on for ever in our hearts. This is one of those moments where there are no words to express our love and compassion to Loretha’s immediate family on the loss of their BELOVED. And there is little comfort to all who share in the loss of this wonderful and AMAZING GIFT; we were allowed to experience. LORETHA.
Yet as we grieve, we must gather ourselves and celebrate. We were blessed and fortunate to be family and friends of LORETHA; as she made all of us better and richer for knowing her.
Bless You Loretha, God Bless You as You Have Blessed Us. . .
Kenny and Teletia: Please accept; Janice, Felicainna and my Deepest Condolence. Cecil Stanley.
