Lori Langan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2023.
Lori Ann Langan, affectionately known as "Lovely Lori Langan," died on Thursday, February 23rd, 2023, at the age of 51. Lori was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; growing up in Center Point, Iowa. In high school, Lori was top of her class in academics and was involved in everything from sports to music. Her real passion was music as she loved show choir and was even part of a community show choir that performed for events around the area. She loved to sing and dance.

Lori went on to attend University of Northern Iowa for a brief time. However, after meeting the love of her life, Michael Langan, Lori headed south for warmer weather and never looked back. She visited Iowa often, but she created a beautiful life with the man who eventually became her husband. First in California, then moving to Sedona. Mike and Lori were married at their home in Sedona on September 20th, 1997.

Lori worked at several companies over the years, including Wells Fargo, Empire Beauty School, and most recently Flagstaff Junior Academy. Lori was known for her unwavering work ethic and dedication to not only the companies where she worked but the people she worked with; which is why Lori accumulated many life-long friends along the way.

Lori held a variety of positions during her life but her favorite role was that of mother. Lori lived for her two boys, Dylan (22) and Bradley Langan (20). She could hardly say no to either of them regardless of the request. She beamed when they laughed and cried when they cried. She made sure she was there for every game, every concert and every milestone. Lori and Mike took many trips together as a family. It was so important to her to create memories with the boys. They enjoyed regular trips to Glamis, traveling in their motorhome, and most recently a trip to Hawaii.

During Lori's brief 51 years, she was a source of light to everyone who knew her. She loved deeply and gave endlessly, often showing it in acts of kindness. She would buy a little gift because it made her think of you or drop off a meal because you were sick or going through a hard time. She would extend an invitation if she thought you needed company or call just to say "hello." Her friends and family were the recipients of her unimaginable generosity.

Lori is preceded in death by her father, Larry Ficek, and niece and nephew, Amanda and Zach. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Langan; children Dylan and Bradley. Mother, Linda Ficek and siblings, Lawrence Ficek and Lona (Chris) Smart, mother-in-law, Carol Moe, brother-in-law Fred (Sophie) Langan, numerous nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, and too many dear friends to name.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life which will be held at the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church (390 Dry Creek Road, Sedona, AZ) on Saturday, March 4th at 1:00 pm.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I worked with Lori for many years at the bank. Lori was always laughing and singing. Having children meant everything to her. I remember when her boys were very small. She would bring them to the bank. Rest in peace my friend Lori!

I called her "Lori Love" she was love in every sense of her being. She was brave enough to stand with you against the darkness of the world like a proud lioness. She loved you in a way I believe only Jesus does. When she looked info your eyes she peered into you soul and scooped away any pain kissing it off like a child´s wounded knee. The world is better because she graced us all with her love. She could know your heart and gift you save haven. Her kindness will always be a part of me now woven in like pieces of a quilt.
