Lorraine J Hilmer

Lorraine June Petersen Hilmer was born December 7, 1931 in Dysart, IA, daughter of Alford and Beth Heckroth Petersen. She was raised in Dysart where she attended school and later graduated from Dysart High School with the Class of 1950. On November 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to Robert W. Hilmer at the EUB Church in Dysart. Lorraine worked as a telephone operator in Vinton and later took a job with the Farmers Telephone Company in Dysart where she worked until her retirement. Lorraine’s enjoyed spending time with her family, going to stock car races, dancing, shopping and her morning coffee at Georgie’s in Waterloo. In the past year Lorraine’s health had failed and her death came at her home on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the age of 79 years surrounded by her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Dysart American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Ralph. She is survived by her husband Robert, her children, Marshall (Jackie) Hilmer of Cedar Rapids, Scott (Penny) Hilmer, Robbie (Kim) Hilmer, Stacey (Dennis) Dabney and Curt Hilmer all of Dysart, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several step grand and great grandchildren and one sister Willie Ragona of Conway, Arkansas
