Lorraine LEE Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on Sep. 16, 2015.
LEE, Lorraine Ione
February 20, 1924 - September 14, 2015
With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, Lorraine Ione Lee. She passed away peacefully in the University Hospital on September 14, 2015 after a brief battle with pneumonia. She was predeceased in 2003 by her husband Norman Frederick Lee.
Lorraine is survived by her four children: Trudie Lazaruk (Wally), Prentice Lee (Angela), Terry Lee (Jil) and Todd Lee (Daina); her eight grandchildren: Michael Lazaruk, Anthony Lazaruk, Dylan Lee, Harrison Lee, Joshua Lee, Olivia Lee, Annie Lee and Christian Lee. She is also survived by her two great-grandchildren – Jackson Lazaruk and Carter Lazaruk.
Lorraine was born in Waldeck, Saskatchewan, daughter of pioneers, Miles and Anne Wells. She lived the life of a pioneer child, growing up on a homestead in Saskatchewan, and in small towns in Alberta. She never lived in a house with electricity until she married her husband, Norman Lee, the dashing RCMP constable stationed in Notekewin, Alberta. After postings in Bonnyville and Nordegg, Norman was transferred to Edmonton where he and Lorraine spent the rest of their lives. Her life was dedicated to her family and she raised four healthy, successful children over a span of forty years.
She was well-loved by all – family, friends and neighbours who came to know her kindness and generous spirit. Her love of sport was well-known and she was a passionate fan of the Oilers and the Eskimos. She loved to watch them on TV and had a pretty good run when her teams were regular Stanley Cup and Grey Cup Champions back in the eighties. But above all she loved her family in an even-handed and constant manner. She was an excellent cook and everyone treasured her pies and cookies, an art she had learned well from her mother, another great baker.
She will be missed by all who knew her, but we take comfort in knowing she lived a long and full life leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
There will a Celebration of Life service on Saturday September 19, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Timothy's Anglican Church, 8420-145 Street, Edmonton, AB.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 17321-108 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5S 1G2, or the charity of your choice.

Thinking of all Lorraines family as you grieve the loss of a lovely lady. It was a privilege for me to know and care for Lorraine over the last year. She loved her family so much -talked about you often and enjoyed showing me her family albums. I know she loved you a lot and was very proud of you all. I know you will really miss her- as will I . Sincerely Karen
