Louis BURGIO Obituary
Died suddenly on August 20, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Becky) S. Allen; daughters, Emily Burgio Hines (Jonathan Hines), Kalyn Elise Burgio, and Jaime Burgio Rabb (Benjamin Rabb); and their mother, Kathryn Larsen Burgio; his beloved grandchildren, Caroline Dianne Rabb; his namesake, Chapman Louis Hines, Theodore Benjamin Rabb, and Sebastian Campion Hines; and brothers, John Burgio, and David Burgio (Pamela Burgio); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many cherished students/trainees or "academic kin." He was preceded in death by his father, John Burgio; mother, Angeline Burgio Godson; stepfather, Edward Godson; and sister-in-law, Mary Burgio. Dr. Burgio was an accomplished Geropsychologist, best known for his REACH-OUT intervention for dementia caregivers. His great scientific mind and exemplary writing ability touched and helped the lives of many older adults and their families. Services will be held at Heritage Chapel (https://www.dignitymemorial.com/) in Tuscaloosa, AL, at 10 AM, Saturday, August 27, 2022. Friends will be received beginning at 9 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is in the process of setting up the Louis D. Burgio Endowment for Training in Aging at The University of Alabama.

Wow.... Kinda really hits home when friends you grew up with pass at our age. I just reconnected with Lou about a year ago. Haven´t seen him or John in over 50 yrs. Keep `em cold brother!

I just read the obituary and was shocked to hear of the passing of Louis. He was always a gentleman and very smart from a young age We were neighbors growing up. My condolences to all his family and loved ones.
