Louis A. Morace
1928 - 2014
LONGMEADOW
Beloved husband, stepfather, relative, friend, Springfield educator, school psychologist, co-owner of Janus Diagnostics, educational psychologist for the Connecticut Correctional Institution and assistant program coordinator for Asnuntuck Community College, Navy veteran, Louis A. "Buster" Morace of Longmeadow passed away recently with his wife Rose by his side. Born in Springfield on March 10, 1928 to the late Louis and Veronica (Francalanchi) Morace, Louis graduated from Technical High School, American International College and did post graduate studies at Springfield College. He taught school in France, Germany, Indian Orchard Elementary, Buckingham Jr. High, and Technical High School. In 1975, he began his work as a school psychologist which he enjoyed immensely with the people with whom he worked. He is survived by his devoted wife Rose (Chiusano) Morace, his daughter Gina Massa, his son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Angella Massa, and a grandchild, Joey, his sister and brother-in-law Grace and Robert Gagne of O'Fallon, Illinois, a brother-in-law and his wife Chip and Karen Chiusano of East Longmeadow. He was "Uncle Louie" to the members of the late Louis and Eva George family who included him in all family activities. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his friend Jere Sheehan. He leaves many members of the Chiusano, Russo, Zarlengo, Morace, DiCarli and Zaitchik families. A proud Navy veteran and a member of the "greatest generation", Louis served his country during WW II. He was at peace and enjoyed being a participant at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke. He considered the facility a treasured, dignified, and honorable place for veterans. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home for their love and exemplary care shown to Louis. The staff was like a family to both Louis and Rose. As per the prior request of the decedent, a private rite of committal service was held in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veteran's Cemetery in Agawam. A service in his honor will be held at a later date. The family respectfully requests that donations in his honor are made to the Employee's Fund, Holyoke Soldiers' Home, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, Ma 01040. Agawam Funeral Home was in charge.

To the Morace family,
Louie was my 4th or 5th grade teacher when I moved to Springfield from N.Y. We also lived in the same area near 5 mile pond. He was very gentle and kind as a teacher even when he made me say "teapot" in front of the class to show my NY accent. In the old days if we got caught chewing gum in class we had to stand in the hallway with the gum on our nose for a few minutes! Louie and I were reunited in 87 when his niece, Linda, my good friend and former co-worker took ill and passed in "88,at only 36.
My heart goes out to you at this time of loss. Uncle Louie was a real fine man! I'll always envision he and Linda together again, with her favorite animals, on the other side. Blessings to all.

Rose, Mom just told me about Buster's passing....so sad to hear, but I know you were a wonderful wife and caretaker. I will remember him in my own way visiting with my grandparents in MA and on occasion visting with Yolly. Many fond memories and he was always a true gentlemen and wonderful conversationalist. Am proud to have shared the same bloodline. Hugs and prayers to you and your family.

Having Lou as a brother-inlaw was a welcomed addition to our family. Many years ago, he and Yolly would visit my parents on Sundays. Yolly loved my father and they would sit on the front porch and enjoy each other's company. He was a wonderful husband to Rose and father to Gina and Joey. We will always remember him for his gentle nature and fun times at his house with Rose's delicious cooking.

Rose,
My condolences on the passing of "Buster". It was always such a pleasure to see him at family get gatherings. I'll always remember his loving nature, charming personality and larger than life spirit. I'll never forget the countless stories he would tell about my Grandfather, and the days of working at the diner with my Grandfather. He had a story telling ability that made me feel as though I was there, and a part of it all. I'm thankful for having the privilege of knowing him. Thinking of you and sending so much love and support during this difficult time.

Rose,
My mother and I are so sorry for your loss. I was so lucky to have Uncle Bus as my Godfather he always made me feel special and was good to me. I am glad he was part of Derek's life as well. He was like a brother to my father and we all loved him.

Sincerely,

Wendy and Joan
