Louisa E. Jones, 87, of Westport, formerly of Winchester, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011 at 5:40 p.m. at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 12, 1923 in Bartholomew County to the late Charles and Alda (Coryell) Alexander. She was raised in Winchester and moved to Jennings County in 1960. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1941. Jones was a member of Union Flat Rock Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She married Charles R. Jones of Oakville June 13, 1942 and he preceded her in death July 16, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Donald (Carolyn) Jones of Southport and Charles R. (Margaret) Jones of Splendora, Texas; four daughters, Charlotte Patterson of Union City, Ind., Louisa V. Geesy of Dunkirk, Raymona (Bob) Hull of Westport and Nadean (Jeff) Bryant of North Vernon; a brother, Jim (Helen) Alexander of Winchester; 22 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles R. Jones; three sisters, Cahterine Wood, Mary Ann Rust and Edith Gardner; and three brothers, Donald, Bill and Charles Alexander.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bass and Gasper Funeral Home and Crematory, Westport, with Pastor Malvin McCullough officiating. Burial is at Union Flat Rock Cemetery.
Visitation is two hours prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bassgasper.com.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer's Association.
