Louise H. Nelson age 82 of Spearfish, died Monday November 28th, 2005 at her home. The funeral service will be held 10:30 am Friday at the St. Onge United Church of Christ with Reverend Buck Malone officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in the St. Onge Cemetery. Louise H. Hargens was born April 19, 1923 in Alexandria SD. She was the daughter of Louis and Olga (Grohman) Hargens. Louise grew up on a family farm near Alexandria where she attended a country school. On July 9, 1942 she was married to Grover Nelson in Artesian SD. Following their marriage they farmed near Artesian before moving to Lead where they lived for 30 years. In 1977 they retired to St. Onge where they were members of the United Church of Christ. In 1989 they moved to Belle Fourche. Grover died May 27, 1992. For the past 2 years, Louise has lived in Spearfish. Louise was a loving mother who worked very hard in her younger years to raise her five daughters. Christmas was always a special time of year to her, and she always would save up for presents for her kids when they were young and at home. She had a colorful personality and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and giving away her creations to friends and family. Louise could talk to anyone and she loved traveling, and was blessed to have just returned from a week's stay in Hawaii. Her family will treasure the many fun memories and the laughter they shared. Louise was a special mother and grandmother, and she will be greatly missed. Louise is survived by her 5 daughters, Marilyn (Keith) Bunch of Vale SD, Linda Agena of Spearfish, Patty (Jim) Mehlberg of Deadwood, Norma (Roy) Kugler of Westminster CO, Jean (Roger) Bowman of Belle Fourche; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and sisters, Nora and Lucille of Hurley SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great granddaughter, Amber Louise Schneider; brothers, Eli, Chris, and Alfred Hargens; and sons-in-law, Bob Edlund, George Agena, and Daniel Pinkerton.
