LUCILLE GABEL Obituary

March 12, 1919 - December 11, 2016 OKLAHOMA CITY Lucille was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who passed peacefully from this life on Dec. 11, 2016. She was born March 12, 1919, in Oklahoma City to Quincy and Ida Sauls. Growing up, Lucille attended Shields Heights Elementary, Capitol Hill, Jr. and Sr. Highs. Upon graduation, she attended Hills Business School and work briefly for a local lawyer and Zale's Jewelry in Oklahoma City. She married Kenneth L. Gabel, an architect and the love of her life, on Jan. 9, 1940. They enjoyed 43 years together and had three children, Barbara Jean Gabel, Patricia Ruth Infante, and James Kenneth Gabel. Her parents; brothers, Jack and Joe Sauls; and sisters, Ruth Phillips and Helen Shelton, preceded Lucille in death. A brother, Doug Sauls with wife Marilyn; daughters, Barbara Gabel and Patty Infante with husband Ramon; son, James Gabel; grandchildren, Stephanie Wallace with husband Jon, Tacy Krause with husband Marcus, and Kenny Infante, survive her in death; along with great-grandchildren, Audrey and Quincy Wallace, Brynnley Krause, Collyns Infante and Finnleigh Infante. Lucille was dedicated to her faith. She attended Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church, as a child and after marriage, Crown Heights and Grace United Methodist Churches. Lucille was proud to have been a charter member of Grace Methodist and attended for over 50 years. She contributed greatly to its "Crusaders Class" and the United Methodist Women's Group. Outside of being with family and encouraging their personal endeavors the favorite pastimes she enjoyed, were bridge-playing, reading and watching her favorite Sooners play. Lucille's greatest love was her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and caregiver who always provided unconditional love and support. Her family expresses, "We are forever grateful to have had her in our lives. We thank her for what she shared and the wonderful memories she created, exhibiting always a sense of humor. We will cherish her modeled shining example of dedication and love required to make a family strong. Her guidance and example will live on with us forever." In her last years, Lucille thrived greatly with friends and compassionate caregivers within the Epworth Villa Retirement Community. They were truly a valued extended family that made Lucille and everyone who loved her feel secure and welcomed. Viewing will be at the Hahn-Cook Funeral Home, 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Services will be in the Brill Chapel at Epworth Villa Retirement Center, 14901 N. Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City, Friday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. Private interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.

40 years ago I had the pleasure and good fortune of joining the Gabel family as Lucille's son in law. She was a terrific person and I will miss her dearly. I loved her very much.

Patricia Infante and Gable family:
your Mom was such a lovely woman. My heart aches for you and your family
during this time. Those we love never die, just depart before we do.
Praying that you and your family stay strong and find peace.
Love you Patty-your sister in law- Grisel Weber
