The best friend, legal secretary and class lady I have ever known. Her demise is a greatl loss except for Heaven.

Dear Micheal, Maria, Ashligh and Gabe, Words cannot express how saddened I am at Tia Lilly's passing. I can't imagine not hearing her voice again, having those phone conversations she and I would have, and the laughter. Oh if we could only turn back time; which is what she and I did when we went down memory lane together. God Bless you Tia. Dolores E. Duarte Leyva

Dear Mom,
I can't even begin to express my sadness right now. Never again will I go to lunch with you and watch you sing Maria Bonita with the guitarist and wow them with your incredible voice. I won't hear your funny stories of the office days or your childhood experiences. There will be no more hugs, no more smiles, no more phone calls.
I know you were tired and you missed Dad so much. You were an amazing woman, truely a one-of-a-kind. You were the matriarch who held us together, encouraged us, inspired us, and loved us without limit.
I know you are happier now and there is no more pain. You will forever be with us in our minds and hearts. I love you and miss you.
Until we meet again.

One special lady, I'll miss our chats of the times you lived in Bisbee Az, the kindness you always showed me throughout our interaction at Muni. Rest in peace Lydia and God bless you and your family.

I don't wonder anymore what I'll tell God when I go to heaven. When we sit in the chairs under the tree, outside the city........I'll tell these things to God, and he'll laugh. I think and he'll remind me of the parts I forgot, the parts that were his favorite. We'll sit and remember my story together, and then he'll stand and put his arms around me and say, "well done," and that he liked my story. And my soul won't be thirsty anymore. Finally he'll turn and we'll walk toward the city, a city he will have spoken into existence a city built in a place where once there'd been nothing.

I attended Bisbee High School with Lydia and we were not close friends at that time but through our class reunions I became good friends with her. I shall miss her emails to me. Lydia was a gracious lady who made sure all her class mates kept in touch. I shall miss her. Viola (Vivian) Maxwell

Aunt Lydia the last time I saw you was at my father's burial mass in 2001. I will never forget the beautiful eulogy that you gave to honor him. As all your family and friends now pray for your soul to rest in eternal peace in our heavenly father's kingdom, united with all your loved ones. I also pray for your family to find the strength they need during this time. Until we meet again.

Dear Aunt Lydia,
I'm sorry we didn't get to spend much time with you other than the occasional family gatherings when we were younger. I remember the family stories of growing up in Bisbee and your brothers getting into mischief in the Gulch. I send you love and peace to rest with those waiting to greet you on the other side.May God bless your family and give them comfort in knowing you are now in our Father's kingdom.

Thank you for being my secretary for 2 years in Justice and 15 years in District Court. They don't come better than you as a friend, wife, mother or Nana. You were not only fun to work with but smarter--as one lawyer told me-"Smarter than a tree full of owls" I miss times like in Justice when we had a criminal trial and you passed me a note "The Defendant has not taken his hand out of his pocket since he sat at the trial table" .So we had the bailiff check him out. We found out he did not have a hand on that arm in his pocket. It was fun in the old Court House in JP Court in 1965 with you and Ilene Carson taking care not only me but 2,000 marriages, civil and criminal court etc. That old Court room had 1 JP, George Folly the DA and Ralph Lamb ,Sheriff, with his prisoners in the basement. Thanks again for coming back as my Secretary in District Court in 1974 for 15 more years. You will be missed and loved always.

To Maria and family; I knew Lydia from her professional life, but she was also a friend. She had the best advise, great wisdom and impeccable humor to approach any discussion we ever had. Rest in peace Lydia and God bless you and your family.

Nana, you truly will be missed. So many lives were touched by your love and wisdom. I hope we are all able to carry the things we learned from you forever. I will miss your laugh and voice echoing wherever we were. I will truly miss going to CPK and the God awful Mimis with you. Truly the things I have taken for granted are the things I miss most. I wish I could have told you I loved you more and been more patient, but I know you always knew my heart. You have inspired me my entire life and will continue to. I can't imagine the happiness that has overcome you seeing Tata again and all your loved ones. God has called you home, and we reside in the home you left here. There are so many things I want to say but one thing outweighs them all. Thank you, is the thing that over powers everything else. Thank you for always supporting me, loving me, helping me, caring for me, guiding me, and putting up with me. I wish you could be seeing our baby boy in a few short months and be there for my wedding, but you will have the best view there. I love you more than my body can contain or words could possibly measure. Rest in paradise Nana.

To the Family of Lydia, There are few true ladies in society today and I had the privilege of knowing this one. Lydia Cortright was a beautiful, pious, thoughtful, kind and intelligent woman. She raised the standard for the rest of us with her morals and integrity. A true treasure who will be greatly missed. I know she is resting in peace in our Lord's arms. My sincere sympathy to you all. her friend,

Lydia was a true professional, but I'll best remember the days when we relieved the stress of the courtroom with a little song and dance. I'll miss your humor, positive outlook and sage advice. Nancy Becker (Las Vegas, NV)

May you rest in peace dear Aunt Lydia. We'll miss you great stories and quick wit. Now, you are reunited with all your family who have gone before you. Please give my dad a big hug and kiss when you see him and I look forward to the time we'll all be reunited in God's kingdom. Prayers and thoughts to your children and grandkids for comfort.

Lydia was my dearest friend and my mentor. She never missed an opportunity to give me words of encouragement and always found humor and all that she did and said. I will miss all of the laughter and fun times we had together. I love you, and will miss you dearly.

I will miss the Happy New Year/Happy Birthday wish from you, Aunt Lydia. You are the one with the steel trap memory. The many stories you shared with us; the many that remained untold. One day we will meet again and can resume the conversation. You are the most stately, elegant and eloquent of the Duarte clan. I will miss you. Bisbee's Grassy Park will boast of your extended visits with Aunt Rachel (that is until your brothers would catch you). The waiting arms of your departed loved ones await you. Although you traveled to beautiful places in your lifetime, this is the Sweetest Journey you will take. Until we meet again. Vaya con dios, querida tia. With love and affection, Rose Mary

The joy of hearing tales of life in Bisbee has now become silent. No longer will we hear the marvelous stories of where life was an exciting adventure.
The giggles, antics and horseplay now lay silent.
The 100 steps to get to the house are silent as well.
The noise from the canyon is now just a whisper from the wind.
Oh, how we long to hear those stories again.
Tia, you left the canyon and made a beautiful life for yourself.
Your adventures took you to far away places.
We are all blessed and encouraged to seek our own path.
A new adventure awaits you now. You are now reunited
with your loved ones and your beloved. May we all be lucky
enough to leave this world as you did.
