Lynn Goodwin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 3, 2021.
Lynn Goodwin

Lynn Edward Goodwin, 69, graduated to eternal life on December 26, 2020. He will always be loved and remembered for his easygoing smile; kind, patient manner; generosity; and steady faith. His wife, daughters and grandchildren were the light of his life. Always looking for ways to help, he often assisted family and friends with everything from home remodeling to estate management.

Lynn was born November 26, 1951, in Altus, Oklahoma. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he was an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After earning his degree in accounting, he moved to Tulsa and earned his CPA certification. He and his high school sweetheart, Shari Gober were married in 1975. Lynn was employed by Green Bay Packaging for 41 years, most recently as Tulsa Division Controller.

A faithful member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Lynn chaired the Administrative Board and Building and Finance Committees. Active on Missions and Welcoming Committees, he sang in Chancel Choir and was a faithful greeter. He was also a founding board member of Sistema Tulsa, a program of social change through music education.

Lynn was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his wife, Shari; daughters, Christy (Alison) Goodwin and Julie (Danny) Knudsen; grandchildren, Brady and Mary Kyde Knudsen; sister, Jane Goodwin; Shari's parents, Ron and Mary Ellen Gober; his brother-in-law, Ron (Kelly) Gober; sister-in-law, Lisa Gober and Cindy Huffine; and many cousins, step-siblings, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dorothy Goodwin; and stepmother, Willa Lee Goodwin.

A service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Spondylitis Association of America, Sistema Tulsa, or the Boston Avenue UMC Missions or Building Endowments.

Lynn was the Best Man at our wedding in 1976. He also introduced me to my husband when we were at OU. He continued to be a lifelong friend. Shari, my heart goes out to you, Christy and Julie. You all really did "love him to heaven." I hope we can all gather in the future to pay tribute to Lynn and to give our support to you.

It was such a blessing for us to get to meet Mr. Goodwin. He was always such a kind and caring man and a true light for our Lord and savior. I will always cherish his friendship. Even during his toughest struggles he was always thinking about others and brought me two more boxes of Lindors to pass out to our other patients. Lynn you will forever be remembered by all of us that knew you.
